The New York City Department of Education has two scholarship programs that Communication Sciences and Disorders students may be interested in:

Students Aiming for NYS Certification as Teachers of Students with Speech-Language Disabilities

This program reimburses tuition (57-67 credits including Child Development, Schools and Society, and Health Prep, and SPH561). In exchange, you must work double the number of years for NYC as you spent in school. For more information, visit

Bilingual Extension to the Teachers of Students with Speech-Language Disabilities

ITI (The Intensive Teacher Institute in Bilingual/ESL and Special Education). You need school district support/Superintendent signature to apply. They are supporting preschool personnel as well. Contact ITI at 631.286.6551.
